Three Great Blessings

Three Great Blessings Psalm 73:23, 24

Purpose: To point out the blessedness of being children of God.

I. Companionship (v.23).

A. God was with Joshua and Israel after the departure of Moses (Deuteronomy  31:1-8).

B. God works strong in the behalf of his people (II Chronicles 16:9).

C. Jesus told the disciples, “. . . I am with you always, even unto the end of the world” (Matthew 28:20). See also Psalm 37:25.

D. The promise made to Joshua is given to us in Hebrews 13:5, “. . . I will never  leave thee, nor forsake thee.” Also read verse 6.

E. Is God your companion?

II. Guidance (v.24).

A. Every person needs the guidance of God (Jeremiah 10:23).

B. “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord . . .” (Psalm 37:23).

C. Our desire should be for the Lord to guide us continually (Isaiah 58:11).

D. Do these words of Psalm 48:14 describe your life, “For this God is our God  for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.”

III. Glory (v.24).

A. Paul puts it in these beautiful words, “When Christ, who is our life, shall ap pear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory” (Colossians 3:4).

B. In the eternal state all who are in the family of God will share with Christ his  eternal glory (Romans 8:16-18).

C. We must never take our eyes off of glory (Hebrews 11:10).

D. Are you headed to glory?

Conclusion: From this passage we can see that those who are truly rich are the chil dren of God – not the people of the world. This realization should cause all of us to  see the importance of being God’s children. Are you a child of God today? To be come a child of God you must believe in Christ (John 8:24); Repent of your sins  (Acts 17:30); Confess Christ as the son of God (Acts 8:37); and be baptized into  Christ for the remission of your sins (Romans 6:3, 4; Acts 2:38).
