Introduction: The Jerusalem church attracted others because certain things existed there (Acts 2:47). Today, we too should find favor with others. I want to emphasize this fact by looking at the question, Wouldn’t It Be Great?
I. Wouldn’t it be great to find a place where people love and care for one another?
A. As followers of Christ, we try to follow the golden rule in all of our relationships (Matthew 7:12).
B. We realize that Jesus wants the world to be able to recognize His disciples by the love that they have for one another (John 13:34,35).
C. When people visit our services they will find peace, unity, kindness, mercy, compassion and love.
II. Wouldn’t it be great to find a place where people genuinely care for the souls of their family, friends and neighbors?
A. As members of the body of Christ, we take the great commission seriously (Mark 16:15,16).
B. We realize that Jesus wants the world to hear his gospel (Matthew 28:19; Colossians 1:23).
C. When people visit our services they will find Christians that live and breathe souls.
III. Wouldn’t it be great to find a place where people love and respect the word of God?
A. As members of the church of Christ, we believe that “All scripture is given by inspiration of God . . .” (II Timothy 3:16). B. Realizing our own inability to direct our steps (Jeremiah 10:23), we rely upon God’s word to guide our feet (Psalm 119:105).
C. When people visit our services they will find that we strive to speak where the Bible speaks and be silent where the Bible is silent.
IV. Wouldn’t it be great to find a place where people worship God as men and women did in New Testament times?
A. Every Sunday, we assemble to remember the Lord’s death (Acts 20:7; I Corinthians 11:23-26); Sing (Ephesians 5:19; Hebrews 2:12); pray (Acts 2:42); give (I Corinthians 16:1,2); and study (Acts 20:7).
B. When people visit our services they will find individuals offering pure worship to God, as He has instructed.
V. Wouldn’t it be great to find a place where visitors always receive a warm welcome?
A. Visitors are greeted with a handshake and a smile.
B. Children and adults are shown to their respective classrooms and introduced to their teachers.
C. When people visit our services they will find that regardless of race, gender, age, or social class, visitors are treated as honored guests (James 2:1-10).
Conclusion: The Arab Church of Christ is this place. We have something to really offer the world and we should be busy doing it every day. Ken Tyler
